A Soolip Wedding 2011

We were thrilled to take part in another successful bridal tradeshow yesterday - A Soolip Wedding. There was a buzz around our booth as we gave mini makeups accompanied by "before and after" photos. We also gave away a FREE makeup trial in our raffle!

Rachael's Total Beauty Makeover

I was thrilled to meet Rachael! Like many women she's a mother and busy profesional who has little time for herself in the morning. First thing I wanted to tackle was her brows, and then give her simple yet effective makeup routine. See her makeover below, images and text from Totalbeauty.com

To soften Rachael's look and to match her new hair color, makeup artist Amy Hollier lightens Rachael's eyebrows and shapes them. Eyebrows should always be close to the color of your hairline, says Hollier.

The makeup

The goal of Rachael's makeup look is to even out her skin tone. To accomplish this, Hollier uses a brush to apply a medium-coverage foundation (she used Kevyn Aucoin Beauty Liquid Airbrush Foundation, $45), which helps to "fill in the pores," says Hollier. On top of that, she applies Paul & Joe Beaute Stick Concealer, $24.80 to Rachael's under eye area and on any skin imperfections. Next a touch of apricot blush is brushed on the apples of her cheeks for a warm glow and a translucent powder is applied all over the face to set her

look. For Rachael's eyes, Hollier uses Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Lionfish, $20, a deep bronze color, across Rachael's upper lash line to accentuate her light blue eyes. Hollier finishes Rachael's natural, but polished look by applying a sheer pink gloss like Sephora Ultra-Shine Lip Gloss in Golden Pink, $4.

"I have one word for you all -- EYEBROWS, EYEBROWS, EYEBROWS! -- what a difference a little snip and shape makes, not to mention color," exclaims Rachael.

This Season's Glitzy, Steel-Blue Nails

I'm sure at point or another you, just like myself, ventured into the gray mushroom polish trend that was last years big craze. Well it's spilling over into this season once again. But for most of us who have moved on and are ready for something other than gray inspired everything, the new answer is shimmering blues and granites! No, not navy-black, not neon screaming aquas, but something blending between a shimmering graphite and molten, steel silver. So say a temporary goodbye to the blah grays and that really dark, hard vampy nail for now anyways. With the mix of these opalescence, metallic and shimmers, the cool new blues work with anyone's personal edge. It's about time we give those other shades a rest and experience a little more depth this fall season! Remember ladies, its just nail color, not a tattoo....so have some fun and flaunt these hot shades this holiday!

We love Christine Teigan and for last night's AMA's Amy took the smokey approach to her stunning eyes...

Christine has mesmerizing eyes, and to complete her ballet slipper pink Marchesa gown, I wanted to make them slightly smoky for this years AMAs. For a softer, but still sexy, smoky eye I opted for a rich brown shimmery eye pencil (Lionfish Smudgestick by Stila) and smudged it from her lashline on the top and bottom with my ring finger. I finished with a little lilac shadow from Marchesa for Le Metier pallette. Black mascara is always a must! I love Armani's Eyes To Kill.
